A fresh website for an epic global game development company.

Renowned, Japan-based game development company Pole to Win recently rebranded to Side. As one of the oldest game development support studios in the world they have collaborated on 2000+ projects (including exciting titles like Fortnite and Baldur’s Gate 3) and won over 20 prestigious awards. Side offers a range of services including sound design, voice acting, software development, QA, and more.

PlusNarrative designed a modern and colourful website to suit this titan of the gaming industry and its audience, using elements of the CI created by Dotdotdash.

Challenge

PlusNarrative designed a fresh website to reflect the new branding and identity of the game developer as well as its depth of experience and extensive service offering in a manner that would be appealing to gamers, developers, clients, and investors.

The team had to devise an immersive and exciting interface, balancing the neon identity with intuitive and frictionless experience, and showcasing imagery from the exciting projects which Side has collaborated on as well as their extensive service-offerings.

Artwork and demonstrations of past work peek through logo cutouts on service cards.

Solution

It was important to reflect the brand’s neon and futuristic personality and audience. We incorporated strategic design elements to convey the strength of the company in a clear narrative and incorporated moment wherever possible to keep the user engaged.

We started by animating the new logo and created an animated landing page, offering an immediately visually interesting experience.

Technologies used

Next.js

Node.js

Impact

The website design was handed off to Side’s own development team and PlusNarrative provided full animation tests and guidelines to ensure that the build was pixel perfect. The resulting site conveys the sophistication of services and professionalism offered by Side, while appealing to gamers and developers alike.

The cutout concept filtered through the website as a way of featuring detailed artworks (produced by Side) within the neon and colourful aesthetics of the branding.
